
Nearly 70 individuals attended the annual Holiday Remembrance Program.
Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
A Holiday Remembrance Program will be held at Schoenberger Funeral Home to recognize those families who have had a loved one die this year as well as assist them on their grief journey.

The weather is holding so the crew from Lakes Landscaping, Perham, is packing the sand base for the paver installation tomorrow. It is exciting to see the memorial taking shape!

The progress on the memorial continues with the removal of the concrete forms.

The concrete core foundation and bench slabs are being poured today! Darla Medeck-Johnson is looking over the project site with Jim Hemmelgarn of Hemmelgarn Construction. It is so exciting to see the area staked out and progress being made. Travis and Troy Hemmelgarn are building forms and digging the holes for the concrete core. The weather is in our favor, at this time, so we will continue to get as much of the basic work done as possible.

Groundbreaking for the Perham Village Cemetery Veteran's Memorial project takes place tomorrow at noon! Preliminary work has begun with the City Public Works crew relocating the existing flag pole, previously donated by Don and Lucy Olson, to the center point of the memorial. Updates will be posted as they happen so you can watch the progress of this permanent tribute to all men and women who serve our country and preserve our freedom.

Five new additions to our lending library arrived today. These books and others are available to anyone to borrow and use for as long as needed. It is our hope that these resources will help those who are grieving on their journey to healing.
For Children:
"Lean on Me Gently: Helping a Grieving Child", 2nd Edition, by Doug Manning
From the back cover of the book: ...Doug Manning provides answers and assurances for anyone who is concerned about a child in grief. Doug looks at the grieving family, the grieving child and the red flags to watch for. He also discusses providing a safe place for children to grieve and being a safe person for them to grieve with. A section of tools and resources is also included....
"For the Grieving Child: An Activities Manual", by Suzan E. Jaffe, PhD and illustrated by Jayme LaFleur
