Funeral services for Arthur Allan Walker, age 80, of Perham, MN, were held Thursday, December 18, 2003, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham with Reverend Karin Moberg officiating. Burial took place in the Perham Village Cemetery. Art died at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home, Monday, December 15, 2003.



Art was born August 23, 1923, in Nora Springs, Iowa, the son of Ray and Genevieve Walker. After graduating from high school in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1941, he attended the Lincoln School of Commerce for two years. In 1943, Art Walker served his country in World War II, as a United States Marine. During his enlistment in the Marines, he married Verna Mae Mehlin, the ?love of his life?, on February 14, 1945. The couple moved to Minnesota in 1965 and has resided in various locations throughout Otter Tail County since then. Art Walker served eighteen years on the Lincoln, Nebraska Police Department, and two years with the Perham Police Force. Art Walker also worked for Perham Jobbing, Carr?s Tree Service. He and his family also operated the Shoreline CafAsh in Battle Lake, MN. Art Walker retired in 1996.



Surviving Art is his wife, Verna Walker, of Perham, MN; three sons, Larry Walker, of Perham, MN, Steve Walker, of Castle Rock, Colorado and Bob Walker, of Frazee, MN and two daughters, Sue Kness, of Farmington, MN and Becky Miller, of Vergas, MN. Art was ?blessed? with twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five sons and daughters-in-law; Pam Walker, Debbie Walker, Ron Kness, Mark Miller and Darla Walker, all of whom he dearly loved.



Preceding Art in death are his parents and one brother, Everett Walker, of Omaha, Nebraska.
