Alfred George Dertinger was born
February 22, 1921
, the son of Fred and Mary (Ditterick) Dertinger in
Perham
,
MN
. On
May 1, 1944
, he was united in marriage to Violet Simonson at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham. Alfred farmed and was a grade reader for Nagel Construction and did carpentry work for Al Grimm and Paul Schultz Construction. In 1946 he purchased his father’s farm in
Perham
Township
. Alfred and Violet retired in 1973 and moved into Perham. During his retirement he worked for Palubicki Bros. for a number of years. Alfred spent many hours in his shop working on any given number of projects. Many of his interests included playing cards, telling jokes, making tapes, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Violet, New York Mills, MN; son, Richard (Mary) Dertinger,
Perham
,
MN
; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Alfred in death are his parents; son, Michael in 1961; son, David in 2001; great granddaughter, Katelyn; sister, Helen Ziolkowski; and a brother, Alex.
