Arland E. Baumgart, age 75, of Perham, MN, died suddenly and unexpectedly from cancer on Monday, November 26, 2007, at Tri County Hospital, Wadena, MN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in Perham Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.
Arland Elder Baumgart was born March 27, 1932, in Perham, MN, the son of Otto and Hedwig (Bahls) Baumgart. He was in the US Army from 1952-1954. On September 19, 1955, Arland was united in marriage to Dorene Manning and together they had seven children. Dorene died in 1999. Arland was employed by Toledo Scales, Little Falls, MN, Culligan and Dynamic Homes both in Detroit Lakes, MN, before venturing on his own as a farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was always busy making or tinkering with something.
Arland is survived by his children, Laura (Rick) Heinle, Perham, MN; LaVonne (Jim) Weickert, Perham, MN; Susan (Dan) Schroeder, Perham, MN; James Baumgart, Perham, MN; and Jason (Stacy) Baumgart, Bemidji, MN; son-in-law, Dwight Myers, Williston, ND; daughter-in-law, Brenda Baumgart, Perham, MN; two brothers, Raymond (Luella) Baumgart, Frazee, MN; and LeRoy (Esther) Baumgart, Detroit Lakes, MN; best friend, Vera Nygaard, Perham, MN; seventeen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding Arland in death are his parents; wife, Dorene; children, Linda Myers and John Baumgart; brother, Wayne Baumgart; and sister, Gladys Estlick.
