Arthur W. "Art" Rosen, age 95, of Perham, MN, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held Friday, March 28, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, with Pastor Carl Noble and Pastor Del Stohs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.

Arthur Wilhelm Ludwig Rosen was born May 11, 1912, in Fairmont, MN, the son of Herman and Clara (Steuber) Rosen. Art's family moved to the Perham area in 1914. He attended parochial school in Perham. Art was confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township. After high school, Art attended Concordia College in Seward, NE, where he studied to become a parochial school teacher. Art was united in marriage to Agnes Johnson on November 28, 1935, in Perham.

During the World War II period, Art worked various military construction jobs in northern Canada, the West Coast, and in Greenland. In 1959, Art started working for the S & L Stores in Fergus Falls. Next, Art went to work for the J.C. Penny Company as a buyer and consultant in Mankato, MN. After working for them for three years, he moved to the F.W. Woolworth Company in the Mankota Shopping Center. He was then transferred to the office in Minneapolis as an assistant buyer and troubleshooter for the company. After two years of this, Art went on the road as a buyer and traveling supervisor, traveling from coast to coast. One of his jobs was to open up men's and boy's departments in new stores in a number of cites in a 10 state region such as Denver, Minneapolis, Duluth, Hibbing, Mankota, Omaha, Witchita, and Marquette, MI. He also did troubleshooting on the West Coast and Hawaii. After the Minneapolis office was closed, Art worked out of the Chicago office until he retired on December 31, 1977.

Art loved nature, traveling, antiques, and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed the natural beauty in things. His eye for design made him a great floral arranger and a creative department store designer. Art will be remembered for having a keen eye for men's fashion.

Art is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Thomas) Lunneberg, San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Kirsten Gagliardo, Kaarin (Joseph) Briguglio, and Thomas Jr. (RoseAnn); and six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Nikki, Kyle, Adrienne, Devin, and Tara.

Preceding Art in death are his parents; wife, Agnes; sister, Sally Olson; brother, Waldemar "Buster" Rosen, and an infant son, Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran School, Perham.
