Bertha Phillips, age 95, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.
Bertha was born in Ulen, MN, on July 5, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Edna (McCulley) Phillips. She was one of three girls born to the Phillips. Bertha grew up in rural Detroit Lakes in an old two story farm house. She had her own bedroom but had said that they sometimes all slept together anyway, especially in winter. They drove to town in horse and buggy and she attended school thru the eighth grade in an old fashioned school house in Erie Township. Bertha loved to quilt, which her mother had taught her. She never married but chose to live on the family farm with her parents so she was able to help and care for them. Bertha would most like to be remembered as a person who was kind to others and who loved her family.
Bertha is survived by her nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bertha in death are her parents, Charles and Edna; and her sisters, Stella Potter and Rose Riewer.
