Boyd Halvorson

December 3, 1923 — January 5, 2007

Boyd V. Halvorson, age 83, of Ottertail, MN, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, at 2:00 pm in the Maine Presbyterian Church, Amor Township, with Reverend Glen Lord officiating. Burial will take place in Silent Vale Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Boyd was born December 3, 1923 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Rudolph and Martha Halvorson. He served in the US Navy during WWII. In 1950 Boyd was united in marriage to Betty and together they had four children. He made his living as an ironworker - local 512. When asked if you could bring him something Boyd always said, "bring brains and money!"



Boyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty, Ottertail, MN; children, Jerry (Connie) Halvorson; Randy (Connie) Halvorson; Myron (Lisa) Halvorson; and Karen (Keith) Cherne, all of Coon Rapids, MN; four grandchildren, Tanya, Danica, Rachel, and Andrew; three sisters, Dolores Scott, Fergus Falls, MN; Marjorie Halvorson, Ottertail, MN; and Norma (Fred) Swanberg, Ottertail, MN; a brother, Gordon Halvorson, Ottertail, MN; brother-in-law, John (Dolores) Ruth, Portage, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.



Boyd is preceded in death by his parents.
