Carl Seifert

July 17, 1932 — January 28, 2010

Carl William Seifert, age 77, of Dent, MN, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 , at the Perham Memorial Hospital & Home (Transitions Unit).


Carl was born July 17, 1932 , at his parents’ home in rural Perham , MN . He attended St. Joseph ’s country school and then attended Perham High School . After graduation, he farmed with his parents until he entered the US Army. After serving his country, Carl returned to work on the family farm in Perham Township .



On June 23, 1962 , Carl married Anna Obowa at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls , MN .



Carl continued farming until his daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Duane Mann, took over the farm. After farming, he worked for Huebsch Turkey Farm, Ed’s Outdoor and Hardware, and also for Alan Seifert’s construction company. Later, Carl worked as a cleaner at the Dent Elementary School for fourteen years. He enjoyed working with the staff and loved seeing the students whom he considered his “grandchildren.”



After retiring, he loved woodworking and making toys and gifts for friends and relatives. He also loved going uptown “to get the mail” and stopping at Nootzi’s for a cup of coffee to visit his many friends and relatives. Carl also loved feeding and watching the many birds that came to the bird feeders. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Council (Dent) of the Catholic Aid Association and served many years on the Perham Township Board.



Carl is survived by his wife, Anna, Dent, MN; five children, Carla (Duane) Mann, Chris (Jackie) Seifert, Theresa Seifert, Rosemary (Gregory) Culp, and Richard Seifert; three grandchildren, Courtney Seifert, Nicholas Culp and Wesley Culp; a sister, Rose Martodam; and three brothers, Paul (Betty), Leon and Daniel Seifert.



Preceding Carl in death are his parents, Alex and Louise (Fiedler) Seifert; a sister, Mary Seifert; a brother, John Seifert, Jr.; grandson, Zachary Culp; brother-in-law, George Martodam; and sisters-in-law, Delilah and Darlene Seifert.
