Charles Scheidecker

A Memorial Mass for Charles J. Scheidecker, 79, Perham, MN will be held on Friday, July 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. in St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham with Father Dave Rieder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham and also one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. He died on Monday, June 28, 2004 in his home.



Charles John Scheidecker was born the son of Robert and Gertrude (Weis) Scheidecker on May 28, 1925 in Rush Lake Township, near Perham. He was raised and attended school here before enlisting into the United States Navy where he served for three years and served in the South Asiatic Pacific Theatre during WWII.

On October 17, 1950 he married Christine Hendrickx in Butler, MN. Following their marriage, they made their homes around the Perham area. Charles farmed and then worked for Lund Boats, New York Mills, MN for Bauck?s Chevrolet and also for Young's Jobbing both Perham, and Lakes Jobbing in Detroit Lakes. He retired.



Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and cribbage. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 4020 in Perham.



He is survived by three sons, Terry (Arlene) of New York Mills, Charles Jr. of Perham, Dean (Ann) of Perham, four daughters, Roxanne (Kenneth) Van Watermulen of Perham, Paula (Stephen) Doll of Ottertail, MN, Michele (Mark) Halbakken of Perham, Brenda Bigalke of Edina, MN, a brother, Robert (Jeanette) of Hawley, MN, two sisters, Fran Breher of Perham and Eileen Hendrickx of Butler, MN. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucille Ditterick and two brothers, Frank and Roy.
