Cora Brasel

Cora M. Brasel, age 99, of Perham , MN , died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 , at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.


Cora Mathilda Huwe was born June 3, 1910 , to Otto and Anna (Butzke) Huwe in Corliss Township , MN . She was baptized on June 26, 1910 , and confirmed on May 10, 1925 , in St. John’s Lutheran Church , Corliss Township . On August 29, 1934 , she was united in marriage to Emil Brasel also at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corliss Township . Emil died in 1968.



Cora loved her grandchildren and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. She especially loved to visit with her great grandchildren. Cora was known for her crocheted afghans that she would make for all of her grandchildren and their families. She also made sure she baked each grandchild their favorite cookies at Christmas.



Cora is survived by three sons, Vernon (Marlys) Brasel, Huntley , MT ; Gary (Janelle) Brasel, Perham , MN ; and David Brasel, Perham , MN ; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.



Preceding Cora in death are her parents; husband, Emil; daughter, Ardell Backstrom; granddaughter, Connie (Amberg) Trowbridge; two brothers, Art and Herb Huwe; and two sisters, Pauline Wendt and Elva Brasel.
