David Adelbert Nolan, age 93, of Perham, MN, died at the Frazee Care Center, Frazee, MN, Monday, December 27, 2004. Services will be held at a later date.
David was born on December 1, 1911, the son of Andy and Myra (Reynolds) Nolan, in Glen Avin, Saskatchewan, Canada. He grew up in Lintlaw, Saskatchewan. Following a move to the Ogema, MN, area, David farmed with his brothers before entering the U.S. Army in June 1941. He served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge in October 1945, David worked as the U.S. Postmaster in Rochert, MN for thirty-two years. He retired in 1973 and, on April 24, 1974, was united in marriage to Janice "Jan" Bailey. They lived on a hobby farm and then on Little Pine Lake, rural Perham followed by a move into Perham. While in Perham, David was very active on the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), and with the Perham Area Food Shelf. He loved animals,
fishing, hunting, working puzzles and Search-a-Words. There was never a short story with David, just like Garrison Keillor.
Surviving David is his wife, Jan, of Perham, MN; step-daughters, Caroline Harstad, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Debora Cline, of Gallop, New Mexico, Ronda (Terry) Craft, of Rothsay, MN and Malinda Burg, of South Pasadena, CA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Byron (Vivian) Nolan, of Richfield, MN and one sister, Ardra Leigler, of Columbia Heights, MN.
Preceding David in death were his parents; brothers, Lawrence, Andy, Woodrow and Lloyd and one sister, Eleanor.
