Elsie Schmidt

May 8, 1912 — October 27, 2005

Elsie Schmidt was born May 8, 1912 in Sheldon, ND, to Charles and Mattie Zoborosky. She moved to Perham in 1920 and graduated from Perham High School in 1931. She married Benno Schmidt in 1931 and was blessed with 9 children. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Elsie had many interests but above all she loved her Lord and unconditionally loved her children. She also loved to travel and experience the beauty of nature. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word puzzles. She cherished her circle of friends and always enjoyed their company. One of her great joys was riding her bike and greeting her many friends in town where she was well known as "the bike lady". Elsie worked in the school lunch program for several years, always looking forward to seeing her grandchildren in the lunch line.

She lived in Perham Memorial Home for the last 6 years and was loved and respected by her many care givers. The family is grateful to them. Her life will continue to be an inspiration to her family and to those who knew and loved her. Our godly and loving mother and grandmother, who dearly loved her Lord and family, saw goodness in everyone and beauty in everything will be greatly missed.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mattie; sister, Ruth; sons, Bruce (infant) and James.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Anna) of Hawley, MN; Jack (Kay) of Perham, MN; Ruth (Will) Price of Seattle, WA; Dale (Judy) of Perham, MN; Eugene (Linda) of Roseville, MN; Judith (Joe) Whetung, of Seattle, WA; Dennis of Seattle, WA; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
