Emma Boedigheimer

June 15, 1925 — August 12, 2006

Emma Mae Boedigheimer, age 81 of Perham, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home in Perham, MN, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 1:00 pm, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham with Rev. Joe Herzing officiating. Interment will be held at the Woodland Hills Cemetery, New York Mills, MN. Visitation will be 2 hours before service.



Emma Mae was born in Selby, South Dakota, on June 15, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Hilda (Marxen) Rice. She grew up and graduated high school in Grinnell, Iowa, in 1943. She married Paul Schmidt and moved to a farm in Bertha, MN. She moved to Wadena, MN, in 1966 and was employed by Huber Motors. In October 1979, she married Donald Boedigheimer and they lived on the farm southeast of Perham. Emma Mae and Don lived their recent years in Fergus Falls, New York Mills, and finally Perham Memorial Nursing Home.



Emma Mae belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and she was the co-chairmen for the organization, Hotline, in Wadena being a great listener and helping numerous teens. Emma Mae had a passion for her family, friends, cooking, gardening, fishing, animals, and flowers. Emma was beloved wife of Donald and the cornerstone for her family and will be greatly missed.



Emma is survived by her loving husband, Donald; children: Dawn Reeves, Corvallis, OR; Dianne (Milo) Johnson, New York Mills, MN; Joni (John C.) Poland, Sebeka, MN; Jim (Carmen) Schmidt, Champlin, MN; and Mark (Kelly) Schmidt, Minneapolis, MN; children by marriage: Kevin (Patty) Boedigheimer, Groton, CT; Kristy (Quentin) Wright, Blair, NE; and Sue (Glen) Collins, Fargo, ND.

Grandchildren: Jeff, John, Tally, Mina, Justin, Latoya, Kelsey, Jessica, Sarah, Jason, Shelby, Dylan, Peyton, Amanda, and Brandon. Great Grandchildren: Nik, Kenzie, Jeffrey, Emerald, Natalie, and Jett.



Emma is proceeded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hilda Rice; brother, O'Dale Rice; and Paul Schmidt.
