Erna G. Marweg, age 98, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Dent, MN, with Pastor Paul Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at the church.
Erna Gertrude Marweg was born February 14, 1909, in Jasper, MN, the daughter of Henry and Emelie Catherine (Buthje) Marweg. The family moved to Dora Township, rural Dent, MN, where Erna grew up. She worked in Wadena, MN, and then moved to Yakima, WA, in 1930, where she was employed at Yakima Egg and Poultry. Erna was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Yakima until she moved back to Perham in 1997. She then joined the St. John's Lutheran Church in Dora Township.
Erna is survived by a sister, Elnora Marweg, Perham, MN; and nephews, Roger (Jean) Marweg, Perham, MN; Gordon (Alverna) Marweg, Dent, MN; and Michael (Carol) Kern, Dent, MN; nieces, Karen (Darold) Eckert, Hoyt Lakes, MN; Sharon (Art) Hennig, Dallastown, PA; Lucinda Wegner, Wahpeton, ND; and Katherine (Don Jr.) Hanson, Hillsboro, ND; and numerous great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Erna in death are her parents; a brother, Elmer Marweg; and a sister, Esther Kern.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church, Dora Township, Dent, MN.
