Evelyn Huwe

Evelyn H. Huwe, age 91, of Perham , MN , died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 , at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.


Evelyn Hulda (Lubitz) Huwe was born April 28, 1917 , in Corliss Township , Perham , Minnesota , the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Brasel) Lubitz. On May 27, 1917 , she was baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection. On June 5, 1932 , she publicly professed that same faith when she was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church , Corliss Township , Perham , Minnesota , where she remained a member for the rest of her life. On May 19, 1943 , she was united in marriage with Arthur Herman Huwe. Their marriage was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.



After attending country school through the eighth grade, Evelyn began doing housekeeping and child care for families in the surrounding area. Evelyn was a Sunday School teacher, was in Homemakers, belonged to the LWML, did quilting with the church, and was also in a walking group. She loved her flowers, gardening, grandchildren, baking, and teaching her grandchildren different crafts. Evelyn and Art continued living on the farm until they moved into Perham in 1997. On February 7, 2002 , Evelyn entered the Perham Memorial Home where she died on April 1, 2009 , at the age of 91.



Evelyn is survived by her three children; a daughter, Doreen (Warren) Thompson, New York Mills, MN; and two sons, Dennis (Kathie) Huwe, Menahga, MN; and Steven (Rhonda) Huwe, Dent, MN; eight grandchildren, Patricia (Jeremy) Sanders, Diahnn Huwe, Kristy Thompson, Eileen (Aaron) Kangas, Troy (Christine) Huwe, Pam Thompson, Brent Thompson, and Tabitha Huwe; nine great grandchildren, Alyssa, Cierra, and Erica Bertram, Allyson, Brooke, and Caaden Kangas, Brenna and Katie Thompson, and Reese Madonna Huwe; one brother, Herb (Laura) Lubitz; a brother-in-law, Vernon “Buster” Fielder; and three sisters-in-law, Cora Brasel, Bernice Lubitz, and Darlene Lubitz.



Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents; husband, Arthur; big brothers, Elmer and Vernon ; brother, Art (in infancy); and one sister, Delores Fiedler.
