Frank Lachowitzer

Frank Alois Lachowitzer, 78, of Perham, MN, died May 14, 2005 in his home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. in St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Peter Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, May 16, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham.



Frank A. Lachowitzer was born the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Weis) Lachowitzer on August 20, 1926 in Perham, MN. He attended country school, District 13, in Perham Township before enlisting into the United Sates Marines where he served during WWII. Following, he moved back to Perham where he graduated from Perham High School in 1946. He then worked on the family farm. Later he moved to Salem, OR where he worked as a carpenter. Frank then moved back to Perham and farmed. He was united in marriage to Jackie Grover on March 1, 1949 in St. Henry?s Catholic Church. They farmed in Perham Township.



Frank served on many boards including, the Perham Township Board for 24 years, the Perham Rural Fire Department for 22 years and the Perham Rescue Unit for 8 years. He also served 14 years on the Communicating for Agriculture, 12 years with Wisconsin Feeder Pig, 13 years with the Perham Creamery Board and beginning in 1979, Frank served with the Otter Tail County Planning Commission.



He enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching the Minnesota Vikings, playing cards and traveling. On Memorial Days the family would go on fishing and house boat trips. He was a member of the VFW Post 4020 in Perham, a lifelong member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham and a member of the Catholic Aid.



Frank is survived by his wife, Jackie, Perham, MN; two daughters, Connie Pinter (Rich Harwell), Maplewood, MN; Sandra Anderson (Dennis Djerkes), Foley, MN; five sons, Steven (Jeannie), Cohasset, MN; Tim (Sheryl), Perham, MN; Michael (Dena), Fargo, ND; Don (Candy), Ottertail, MN; and David (Ann), Kansas City, MO. Frank is also survived by two sisters, Alma Minten, Salem, OR; Elvina Webber, Amery, WI; a sister-in-law Deloris Lachowitzer, Ottertail, MN; 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Arnold; brothers-in-law, Richard Minten and Eugene Webber and one grandson, Jerry Harding.
