Gerald Harlicker

Gerald F. "Jerry" Harlicker, age 70, of Perham , MN , died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 , at Sanford Health Systems, Fargo , ND .


Jerry was born January 22, 1940 , in St. Paul , MN , the son of Robert and Clara (Born) Harlicker. He served from 1959-62 as a Petty Officer Third Class in the US Navy based in California . After being discharged from the service he moved back to Minnesota where he worked for Control Data, and in 1975 he moved his family to Montevideo , MN , to join Montevideo Technology Incorporated as a Quality Assurance Engineer. Notable projects that he worked on included electronic instruments for the space shuttle, electric car prototypes, and motors that were used in deep oil exploration. Jerry retired from MTI/SL Industries in 2002 after 40 years of service and moved with his wife to Perham to enjoy his lake home on Paul Lake .


Jerry was united in marriage to Ilene Holub in 1966 and together they had 3 children and 9 grandchildren. He was very active and involved in their lives, always giving of his time and talents. Family gatherings were enjoyable for Jerry as he had the opportunity to spend time with his beloved grandchildren, playing cards, taking them fishing and swimming. Jerry also looked forward to our yearly Texas Hold-em Tournament where he would often "school" the rest of the family on how to play. Jerry's contagious laugh (snort) was a delight for his family and friends. He loved to watch all types of sports, fish, play cards, bowl, craft wood, and golf. He was a member of the Senior Golf Club in Perham. Jerry was also active in the community and volunteered his time during tax season helping the elderly complete their tax returns. Jerry also worked on the latest census, spending time connecting with people.


Jerry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ilene, Perham, MN; three children, Ryan (Michele) Harlicker, Moorhead, MN; Lee (Belinda) Harlicker, The Woodlands, TX; and Denise (Randy) Hadrath, Kasson, MN; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Alexander, and expectant baby Harlicker; Allison, Andrew and Ashley Harlicker; and Daniel, Marcus and Landon Hadrath; his mother, Clara Harlicker; sister, Diane (Steve) Nash; and brother, Robert (Ruth) Harlicker.


Preceding Jerry in death is his father, Robert Harlicker.
