Funeral services for Gertrude Wanderi, age 89, of Perham, MN, are Saturday, February 7, 2004, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN, with Reverend Del Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is Friday, February 6, 2004, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Gertrude died at the MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Gertrude Ann (Greiff) Wanderi was born, on February 8, 1914, to Edward and Ella Marie (Erbstoesser) Greiff. Gertie was born in Leonard, ND, and moved to Canada with her parents as a young girl. They moved back to North Dakota and eventually to Gorman Township, rural Perham, and farmed there. Gertie married Emil August Wanderi on June 12, 1939. They farmed together until 1973 when they retired and moved into Perham. Gertie was a lifelong member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township. She had been a member of Circle Bible Study Group and Homemakers. Gertie enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center and socializing with her friends. Gertie also enjoyed playing cards, taking bus trips to Mahnomen and watching John Wayne movies and the MN Twins baseball games. Her ready smile and laughter will be sorely missed.
Preceding Gertie in death are her parents; husband, Emil; two brothers, William and Robert Greiff and sister, Lillian Bahls.
Surviving Gertie are her children, Joyce (Jerry) Ledermann, of Mauston, WI, Connie, of Two Harbors, MN, Linda (Chris) Knuttila, of Atwater, MN, Rick, of Fargo, ND and Robin (Ron) Miller, of Perham, MN; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, August Greiff, of Fergus Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.
