Harold Woods

October 13, 1927 — March 2, 2006

Harold William Woods, age 78, of Dent, MN, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Perham Memorial Home, Perham, MN, after a short bout with cancer. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 15, 2006 beginning at 2:30 pm at the United Methodist Church, Dent, MN, with Reverend Roger Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



Harold was born October 13, 1927 in South St. Paul, MN, the son of John and Gertrude (Graves) Woods. He graduated from South St. Paul High School and upon graduation he served in the US Army. On July 7, 1951, Harold was married to Dorothy Mae Smith at the United Methodist Church in Dent, MN. The couple made their home near Dent, where Dorothy still resides today. Harold enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, woodworking and developed a passion for golf. He retired in 1992 after dedicating his life to farming and improving his Jersey herd that he was so proud of. He spent several years as president of the Minnesota Jersey Cattle Club. He made time to involve himself in organizations such as the Dent Fire Department, Township Board, Perham Hospital Board, and the Dent United Methodist Church.



Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Dent, MN; children, Ivy (Robbie) Mickelson, Halstad, MN; Brent (Kathy) Woods, Dent, MN; and Lance Woods; grandchildren, Brandon Bosch, Rebecca Seiberlich, Ginny (Mike) Kelling, Ryan Woods, Joe Woods, Tyson (Angela) King, Mandi King, and Kelsey Boese; great granddaughter, Haylie Hollander; sister, Edith Zehnder; brother, Herbert (Maxine) Woods; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friends, Stacey Woods and Arleen King.



Harold is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Woods; and brother-in-law, Cyrus Zehnder.
