Jerry Neseth

November 21, 1940 — March 31, 2004

Clarion J. ?Jerry? Neseth, Jr., age 63, of Perham, MN, died at his home, under the care of Hospice and surrounded by family, Wednesday, March 31, 2004. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Karin Moberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Memorial Cemetery, rural Perham, MN. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church.



Jerry was born on November 21, 1940, in Faribault, MN, to Clarion and Myrtle Neseth. He was baptized and confirmed at Hegre Lutheran Church in rural Kenyon, MN, graduated from Kenyon High School in 1958, and the University of Minnesota in 1963. Jerry started his career as a soil scientist and later joined the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He retired from the USDA in 1996, after thirty-five years of service. Following his retirement, Jerry pursued his labor of love of gardening by starting a pick-your-own berry farm better known as ?Jerry?s Berrys?.



Jerry?s love for helping people was reflected in the many organizations he gave his time to. He was very actively involved in the Lions Club, receiving the organization?s highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellow, as well as numerous other commendations. Jerry was instrumental in developing a scholarship program for college juniors who were pursuing a career in youth education as well as being a co-chair for the Lions Youth Outreach Program. He was also active in the Perham community, serving for many years on the Fair Board and the Wellhead Protection Committee. Jerry was recently recognized by the City of Perham for his service. Faith was a very important part of Jerry?s life. He served as the winter custodian at Calvary Lutheran Church for the past few years. Jerry and his wife, Rose, are know in the community for their many volunteer efforts.



Surviving Jerry is his wife, Rose, of Perham, MN; his mother, Myrtle Neseth, of Kenyon, MN; two sons, Craig (Kim) Neseth, of Perham, MN and Corey Neseth (Michelle Ringwelski), of Coon Rapids, MN; two step-daughters, Cyndy (Mark) Huber, of Perham, MN and Brenda (Paul) Schermerhorn, of South Haven, MN; three sisters, Carmen (Dave) Berg, of Fergus Falls, MN, Sandra (Dan) McGarry, of North Mankato, MN, and Debbie (Galen) Thomas, of Dubuque, IA; eight grandchildren, BJ (Michelle) Layman, of New York Mills, MN, Christina Layman (Jim Murphy), Brian Neseth, Sam, Kaylan and John Huber and Zakery and Noah Schermerhorn and two great-grandsons, Jake Layman and Dominic Murphy.



Preceding Jerry in death is his father, Clarion Neseth, Sr.
