John Tabery

September 24, 1938 — August 17, 2006

John W. "Jack" Tabery, age 67, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham. Funeral services will be Monday, August 21, 2006, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Wilfred Theisen officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, Tuesday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, Sunday, August 20, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services.



Jack was born to Joe and Marie (Spahn) Tabery on September 24, 1938, on the family farm in Leaf River Township near Wadena, MN. He attended School District 22 and Wadena High School. In February 1956, Jack entered the US Navy. He had a distinguished Navy career which included many awards as well as a personal commendation from the Secretary of the Navy. Having achieved 20 years credit for cumulative service, he retired from active military duty as a Senior Chief. He then began his career in Facilities Management while attending North Hennepin Community College and Metropolitan State University. He retired from the City of Plymouth, MN, in 2000 and moved to Perham, MN. Jack was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.



Jack is survived by his wife, Kathryn, Perham, MN; son, Mark, Minneapolis, MN; step daughters, Jill Christianson (fiancAsh, Brandon Harbaugh), Minneapolis, MN, and Kara Christianson, Raleigh, NC; brothers, Leo (Doris) Tabery, Bluffton, MN; Phillip (Carol) Tabery, Loretta, MN; and George (Judy) Tabery, Perham, MN; sisters, Mary Jane (Jerome) Schmitz, Verndale, MN; Lois (Jerome) Kneisl, Eagle Bend, MN; and Victoria (Dave) Jakubiec, Cross Lake, MN; sister-in-law, Delores Tabery, Wadena, MN; brother-in-law, Kevin (Linda) Anderson, Dalton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.



Jack is preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew; and oldest brother, Stanley.
