Loretta Hinnenkamp

February 15, 1925 — October 26, 2005

Loretta C. (Lies) Hinnenkamp, age 80, of Ottertail, MN, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at the Perham Memorial Home, Perham, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2005, 11:00 am, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rush Lake, rural Perham, MN. Burial to be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2005 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, and also one hour prior at the church.



Loretta was born February 15, 1925 in New Rockford, ND the daughter of Leo and Frances (Vesley) Lies. She spent her early years in New Rockford until the family moved to Wahpeton, ND. She graduated from Wahpeton High School. She attended the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN on a full scholarship. She graduated in English education and began her teaching career in Melrose, MN. She taught at Melrose High School for 3 years. There she was united in marriage to Don Hinnenkamp in 1949. Loretta and Don lived two years in Fargo, ND and then settled in Wahpeton where Don worked for, and later owned, Wahpeton Plumbing & Heating Company. Loretta taught English at Wahpeton High School for 32 years. She was active on many committees, was Chair of the English Department and Yearbook Advisor. She retired to Ottertail Lake in 1984. Loretta was an avid reader, birdwatcher and loved to play bridge. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.



Loretta is survived by her husband, Don, Ottertail, MN; sons, Daniel (Barbara) Hinnenkamp, Grand Forks, ND; John (Kim) Hinnenkamp, Bellevue, NE; three grandchildren, Kelsi, Joshua and Zachery, Bellevue, NE; and a sister, Deloris Maloney, Carmichael, CA.



Loretta is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Mary Fran Myers.
