Madaline Evenson

Funeral services for Madaline F. Evenson, age 92, of Perham, MN, will be Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, Perham, with Reverend Gary Klempke officiating. Burial will follow in the Perham Village Cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2004, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Madaline died at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home, Thursday, January 29, 2004.
Madaline Florence Curtis was born February 16, 1911, to Emelia Ertelt Curtis and Linus Raymond Curtis, Doctor of Chiropractic, in Oreska, ND. Madaline went to grade school in Lemmon, SD but finished high school in Oreska, ND, where she worked for room and board. Madaline was a star basketball player and also played tennis, golf, danced and enjoyed fishing. She attended the Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. On June 24, 1935, Madaline was united in marriage to Palmer Arthur Evenson, in Valley City, ND.
Madaline held many jobs during her lifetime; waitress, farm worker, and she helped in a cook car in the fall during threshing season. She also was a model, and at the time, was rewarded with silk stockings, not money. In Perham, she worked at Welter Hardware Store, the Ben Franklin Store and White Drug. Madaline raised four children, was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW. There was always a smile Mandy's face and she was a very positive person who was loved by many. We will truly miss her!
Preceding Madaline in death her son, Jay Evenson; her parents; and a brother, Arne Curtis.
Surviving Madaline is her daughter, Sandra Jean Norberg (Jerry Lund), of Shoreview, MN; daughter, Paula Kay Evenson, of Woodbury, MN and son Lynn Curtis (Julie) Evenson, of Fergus Falls, MN; five grandchildren, Caleb, Seth, Levi, James Evenson and Eric Norberg and two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Ziggy Norberg.
