Marcella "Marcy" Josephine Sczygiel, 83, of Perham, MN, died on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Elders Home in New York Mills, MN. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joseph Herzing and Father Don Braukmann officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.
Marcy was born December 17, 1921 to John and Anna (Lachowitzer) Schornack in rural Perham Township. She attended St. Henry's parochial school and then Lone Pine School in rural Perham. On June 12, 1944 she married Edwin Sczygiel in St. Henry's Catholic Church. They lived in Corliss Township where they raised their family and farmed for 41 years before retiring. In 1985 they moved to Perham. Marcy enjoyed painting, ceramics, quilting, embroidery, crafts and helping others. She was a perfectionist at lawn and garden care. Marcy was a member of Christian Mothers, Rosary Altar Society, Homemakers and was a dedicated rosary leader at church. Her greatest joys were he children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sharing her faith.
Surviving her are her six daughters, Anna (John) Johnson, Perham, MN; Irene (Bob) Braukmann, Detroit Lakes, MN; Joyce (Arlo) Thompson, New York Mills, MN; Judy (Richard) Wanderi, Perham, MN; Jean (Gene) Falk, Perham, MN; Mary (Dick) Trana, Henning, MN; son, Joe (Connie) Sczygiel, Perham, MN; daughter-in-law, Betty Sczygiel, Frazee, MN; sisters, Theresa (Leo) Doll, Perham, MN; Ann Seifert, Perham, MN; brother, Joe (Sue) Schornack, New York Mills, MN; 26 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed, July 10, 1991; son, Larry "Pete" Sczygiel; granddaughter, Amanda Falk; and four sisters, Elizabeth Doll, Catherine Doll, Ceil Sczygiel and Alvina Kunza.
