Marilyn Honer

Funeral services for Marilyn Honer, age 48, of Dent, MN, will be Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Jerry Nordick officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Dent. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2004, at Sacred Heart Church in Dent as well as one hour prior to the funeral, also at the church. Marilyn died at her home near Dent, the morning of Thursday, May 27, 2004, with hospice present.



Marilyn was born March 7, 1956, the daughter of Errol and Carol (Harthun) Hexum., in Fergus Falls, MN. She grew up in the Dent area, attending Perham School. Marilyn graduated in 1974. In December of 1974, she married Richard Honer and they made their home in rural Dent. The couple had two children, Rickee Jean, born March 5, 1980 and Ryan Errol, born June 21, 1982.



Marilyn started to work for Productive Alternatives in 1978 and continued to the present time. She was an instructor for people with Developmental Disabilities. In 1993, Marilyn received an award for distinguished service to people with developmental disabilities. She extended her education by taking psychology, mental health and computer classes in Fergus Falls, MN, and Fargo, ND. Her hobbies and interests were her flower growing, camping, reading, and designing and decorating her home to accommodate her unique collections of glass slippers, chickens, etc. Most of all, Marilyn enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her granddaughter, Mikaila.



Surviving Marilyn is her husband, Rick, of Dent, MN; her two children, Rickee and Ryan; granddaughter, Mikaila Jean Honer; her mother, Carol Hexum; two brothers, Marvin (Ann) Hexum and Merle Hexum and three sisters, Maxine (Laird) Stoll, Marlene (Tim) Honer, and Monica (Dennis) Arens.



Preceding Marilyn in death is her father, Errol Hexum and all grandparents on both sides.
