Mildred S. Hughes, age 80, of Perham, MN, formerly of Mentor, MN, died January 20, 2004, at her home.
Mildred was born February 13, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Julia Erickson in Mentor, MN. She was raised and attended school in Mentor, graduating from Mentor High School in 1941. During World War II, Mildred was employed at Northern Pump, in Minneapolis, MN. Following the war, Mildred married Lyle Hughes on December 2, 1946, in St. Paul, MN. The couple moved from Anoka, MN, to Milwaukee, WI, in 1965, where they lived until retiring to Long Lake, near Vergas, MN. Mildred and Lyle moved into Perham in 1998.
Surviving Mildred is her husband, Lyle, of Perham, MN; four children, Diane Klumb, of Milwaukee, WI, Karen (Larry) Hamilton, of Milwaukee, WI, Douglas (Charity), of Newnan, GA and Richard (Joanna), of Huntersville, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew (Debbie) Klumb, Sarah Klumb, Eddie Klumb, and Dana Hamilton, all of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Ruth (Earl) Miller, of Perham, MN, one brother, Stafford (Joyce) Erickson, of Perham, MN; sister-in-law, Corrine Erickson; brother-in-law, Donald Bjelland and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mildred in death were her parents; infant son; one grandson; sister, Ilene Bjelland; brother Gorden Erickson and son-in-law, Elwin Klumb.
