Millicent "Millie" Yvonne Guck, age 72, of Williamsport, IN, formerly of Perham, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2006, beginning at 1:00 pm at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 21, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham.
Millie was born in Elmore, MN, on July 17, 1934, the daughter of William and Minerva Evans. She attended country school in rural Elmore and graduated from Elmore High School. With Millie's early interest of fishing, water skiing, and camping, she and her then husband, Herb Chartraw, purchased Kingswood Resort on Star Lake in 1972. They ran the resort with the help of their two younger sons, Dennis Chartraw and Steven Gabbard. Millie remarried in 1978 to David Guck of Perham, MN. She and Dave enjoyed bowling and playing softball together. Millie also enjoyed playing tennis and in the early '80's, she developed a passion for golf which continued up until recent health conditions limited her ability. On August 4, 1993, (her son's birthday), Millie shot a hole in one while playing golf in Attica, IN.
Millie is survived by her loving husband, David Guck, Williamsport, IN; her son, Steven (Meridee) Gabbard, Perham, MN; grandson, Zachary Gabbard, Perham, MN; granddaughter, Courtney (Shane) Were, Frisco, CO; stepsons, Dennis (Ruth) Chartraw, Anchorage, AK; Michael (Margaret) Chartraw, Monticello, MN; and Steve Chartraw, TX; sisters, Avis (Ron) Schroeder, Bena, MN; Barb (Donald) Anderson, Vergas, MN; Kathleen DiNio, Faribault, MN; Dorothy (James) Varno, Detroit Lakes, MN; and Monica (Nick) Roney, Collins, IA; brothers, Bill Evans, Wells, MN; Michael (Arleen) Evans, Crystal, MN; Neil Evans, Arlington, MN; and Joel (Brenda) Evans, Swea City, IA.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Evans.
