Myrna Mondt

Funeral services for Myrna Ellen Mondt, age 90, of Dent, MN, will be Saturday, December 11, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Dent, MN, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Gerald Mondt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Myrna died at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Thursday, December 09, 2004.



Myrna was born in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Chester A. and Nettie V. (Chamberlain) Buffington, on March 25, 1914. On February 9, 1933, she was united in marriage to Albert Mondt, Jr., in Albert Lea, MN. They moved from Mason City in February 1941 to operate the Elk Inns Resort on Dead Lake, rural Dent, MN. For two years, they ran the resort and farmed the adjacent land. In 1943, they sold the resort and moved to the farm. Besides being a farm wife, Myrna was active in the Dent United Methodist Church and Country School District 254. She worked at St. James Hospital in Perham in 1957, West Central Turkey, Pelican Rapids, MN, in 1958, Mina-Sha-Da Steak House from 1963-1965, and Nelson's CafAsh the following year. From 1961 to 1969, while working at these various jobs, Myrna also did housecleaning for surrounding resorts. Myrna then took a job at the Ottertail Nursing Home, rural Ottertail, MN, from 1969-1987, where she was a full-time medication aide and also worked as a Home Health Aide at the same time. In 1987, she retired at the age of 73. Myrna was then a volunteer driver for Otter Tail County and active in the Dent Senior Citizen's Center.



Surviving Myrna are her five children; David (Nancy Lillis), of Safford, AZ, Janette Theriault, of Independence, MN, Dolores Kruger (Leo Hochstetler), of Moorhead, MN, Judy (Dean) Freeman, of Pipestone, MN and Steven (Sharon Wallace), of Pelican Rapids, MN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn (Jerry) Lindsay and one brother, Stanley (Dorothy) Buffington.



Preceding Myrna in death was her husband, Albert, at the age of 47; an infant daughter, Karen, in 1945; two infant sons, Stanley in 1950 and Joseph in 1954 and an infant great-grandchild in 1980.
