Renee Hasskamp, age 93, of Perham, MN, formerly of Crosby, MN, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Perham Memorial Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008, at 2:00 pm in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crosby, MN, with Pastor Dean Stoltz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Burial will follow in Lakewood Cemetery, Crosby, MN.
Renee Smith was born on February 7, 1915, in Crosby, MN, the daughter of Adolph and Eliza (Hensel) Smith. She was united in marriage to Walter George Hasskamp on October 21, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, Crosby, MN. Renee taught at Cedar Lake and Ross Lake rural schools for four years. For 25 years Renee transcribed Sunday school lessons into braille. She lived in Crosby all of her life and was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and word games.
Renee is survived by her four children, Jim (Sue) Hasskamp of Elk River, MN; Karen Hasskamp of Perham, MN; Marsha (Lonnie) LeClair of Fridley, MN; and Jo (Wayne) Stricklett of Papillion, NE; one brother, Kenneth Smith of Sylvania, OH; one sister-in-law, Margaret Smith of Monticello, MN; and six grandchildren, Joshua and Andrea Banke, Neil and Janelle LeClair, and Matthew and Andrew Hasskamp.
Preceding Renee in death are her parents; her husband, Walter; and two brothers, Lynn and Vernon Smith.
