Richard Hockersmith

The funeral service for Richard "Dick" Earl Hockersmith, 74, Dent, MN will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. in Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN with Reverend Roger Parks officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Dent, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 24, from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Schoeneberger Funeral Home. He died on Saturday, August 20, 2005 in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo, ND.



Richard Earl Hockersmith was born the son of Wesley and Wilma (Bissell) Hockersmith on February 12, 1931 in Tingley, Iowa. He was raised and attended school in Pine Bluff, WY. At the age of 17, he entered the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War. During that time, he was united in marriage to Carol Leifermann on April 23, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN. After his service, they moved to Montclair, CA and there he owned and operated an Exxon Station. In 1976, they bought Silent Rainbow Resort on West Silent Lake near Dent, MN and in 1982 they moved to Dent.



Richard enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching any sport on T.V. and watching NASCAR racing.



He is survived by his wife, Carol, Dent, MN; two sons, Wayne Allen (Lorie Lynn), Reno, NV; Richard Alan, Vacaville, CA; a daughter, Lorie Lee (Scott) DeFehr, Enderlin, ND; a brother, William (Kathy) Wymer, Stayton, OR; and a sister, Roberta (Walt) Branstetter, Kimball, NE. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Tamara Lindemann, Corey Lindemann and Brittney Hockersmith.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Delbert and a sister, Shirley.
