Robert Jones, age 77, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Perham, MN, died Friday, October 7, 2005 at his home at Moorhead Manor. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 11, 2005, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham with Reverend Gus Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 10, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham from 4-8 pm and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Robert was born April 3, 1928 near Parkers Prairie, MN, the son of William and Edith (Hedin) Jones. He grew up in Eagle Bend until WWII when he enlisted in the Merchant Marine. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Wadena to work for Percy?s Fur House, now Wadena Hide and Fur. Robert then married Lillian Moench in 1947. In 1954 they bought Henning Iron and Metal Company and moved to Henning, MN. In 1964 he and Lillian divorced and Robert moved to Ottertail, MN and started Ottertail Bait Co. In 1969 he married Shirley Dunblazier. They also divorced in 1983. He then sold insurance until 1990 when he retired. Robert moved to Moorhead in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and dancing.
Robert is survived by his mother, Edith Jones, Wadena, MN; a daughter, Dawn (Eric) Wilson, Fargo, ND; a son, Robert Jones Jr., Hayward, WI; four brothers, Arnold Jones, Belgrade, MN; Marvin Jones, Portland, OR; Orville Jones, Wadena, MN; Mel (Rachel) Jones, Island Lake, IL; two grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, William; and a sister, Arlene Brille.
