Ruth Thompson

October 7, 1923 — April 26, 2008

Ruth Elsie Edna Thompson, age 84, of Frazee, MN, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at MeritCare, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen, Frazee, MN, with Reverend Anthony Cloose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.



Ruth Elsie Edna Jabs was born October 7, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Schwarzrock) Jabs in Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN. She was baptized on October 28, 1923 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss, and attended country school in Corliss Township and Frazee, MN, through the eighth grade. On May 1, 1945 Ruth was united in marriage to Rollo "Shorty" Thompson. They lived near New York Mills, MN, and later moved to Silver Leaf Township and farmed. Shorty passed away August 16, 1994.



Ruth loved crocheting, knitting, sewing, doing crafts, gardening, flowers, farming, and raising chickens. She moved to the Perham Memorial Nursing Home in July 2007. While there, she liked to play bingo, watch the birds, television, and visit with family and friends, including the staff at the Home.



Ruth is survived by seven children, Gail Ulrich, Frazee, MN; Connie Wien, Dent, MN; Sharon Steeke, Perham, MN; Carol (Eldon) Brasel, Perham, MN; Lois (Ken) Novotny, Winnipeg, Canada, Warren (Doreen) Thompson, New York Mills, MN; and Randy (Carol) Thompson, New York Mills, MN; a brother, Walter (Delores) Jabs, Kenosha, WI; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four soon-to-be great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.



Preceding Ruth in death are her parents; husband, Rollo; two sons-in-law, Gary Steeke and Ron Ulrich; a grandson, Dwight Brasel; and two sisters, Esther Thompson and Verdella Bahls.
