William Doll

William “Bill” Raymond Doll, age 64, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.


William was born March 13, 1946 , in Perham , MN , the son of Alois and Catherine (Schornack) Doll and raised on the farm in Rush Lake Township , rural Perham. In 1959, when Bill was 13, the family moved from the farm into Perham where he graduated from Perham High School in 1964. He was a member of the Minnesota National Guard, joining in 1965. On September 16, 1967 , Bill was united in marriage to Shirley Monson and together they raised five children.



On May 26, 2000 , Bill married Cynthia (Brown) Bell and they resided in the Perham area. Combined, they have a total of nine children, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson. His passion was his work. When “not on the road,” Bill enjoyed time with his family, listening to the Twins, fishing the elusive walleye, working in the flower gardens, bird watching and was looking forward to the Vikings season.



Bill’s 40 year career in sales started in 1965 with Perham Jobbing taking him on the road with various vending machine products; traveling throughout Minnesota and into North and South Dakota . From 1980-1990 he worked in the insurance business as a life insurance representative. It was in 1990 that he started with Greenspire Graphics, taking the concept of selling screen-printed t-shirts, sweatshirts and uniforms to various high schools throughout the region. Within a few years he broadened that scope of sales and started calling on resorts. When embroidery machines were installed at Greenspire, again, Bill took to the road, expanding his sales not only to schools but to convenience stores, banks, nursing homes and taverns. Again, these travels took him all over the state of Minnesota , North and South Dakota and even into central Wisconsin .



Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy, Perham, MN; three children, Doreen (Dan) Winkels, Avon, MN; Jeff (Sharon Scully) Doll, Burnsville, MN; and Jason (Dawn) Doll, Crystal, MN; four step-children, Sarah Cox, Detroit Lakes, MN; Shaun Cox, Detroit Lakes, MN; Ashley Bell, Leeds, ND; and Alyssa Bell, Pelican Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren, David (Betty) Turek, Lakewood, WA; Amanda Turek, Brooklyn Park, MN; Austin, Brady, Connor and Madison Winkels, Avon, MN; Austin Dunker-Doll, Park Rapids, MN; and Jeremiah Doll, Perham, MN; five step-grandchildren, Noah Clark, Hurley, WI; Arycka Clark, Detroit Lakes, MN; Anthony Cox, Ironwood, MI; and Amelia and Aiden Bell, Pelican Rapids, MN; one great grandson, Gavin Turek, Lakewood, WA; two brothers, John (Marcene) Doll and Gary (Cathy) Doll, both of Perham, MN; one sister, Linda (Ron) Bjelland, Perham, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.



Preceding Bill in death are his parents, Alois and Catherine Doll; and two sons, Brian and Kevin Doll.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
