William Goosen

May 26, 1953 — August 30, 2006

William David Goosen, age 53, of Perham, MN, died at his home on Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, MN, at 11:00 am with Reverend Del Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 1, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and also one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.



William was the first born son of William R. and Genevieve Mary (LeFaivre) Goosen in Crookston, MN, on May 26, 1953. William was brought into God's Kingdom of Grace through the sacrament of Holy Baptism administered in May of 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Euclid, MN, and became a member of the congregation. There he served as an alter boy for many years. He also took adult classes and became a member of First Lutehran Church in East Grand Forks, MN. On July 24, 1986, he married Dianne Wendt Erickson. They moved to Perham in April 2003. William loved to spend time with his grandchildren.



William is survived by his wife, Dianne, Perham, MN; four children, Robert Goosen, Crookston, MN; Danielle Smith, Bemidji, MN; William Goosen, Minneapolis, MN; and Stephen Long, Minneapolis, MN; five stepchildren, Kristen Brown, Pamela Erickson, Jason Erickson, Travis Erickson, and Rebecca Erickson, all of Perham, MN; six step-grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas (Sue) Goosen, Grand Forks, ND; Tim Goosen and Neil Goosen, both of Crookston, MN; one sister, Shirley (Duane) Woinarowicz, Fertile, MN; and several nieces and nephews.



William was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Thomas Goosen.
