Dollena Wanda Nundahl “Dolly” age 90, a resident of Perham Living's Prairie Knoll, received her wings on January 14, 2018, when she was called home to be with our Lord. Dolly was born on October 28, 1927 in Frazee, MN. She was the daughter of John and Lena (Tober) Ziolkowski. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corliss Township and confirmed in 1942. Dolly attended school at District 207 Country School, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Perham Public School. She was very proud to receive her GED in 1975, and graduate Detroit Lakes Tech School for Chef's Training, in 1977.
Throughout her life, she had a variety of jobs from babysitting when she was young to working at the old Perham Hospital. In 1944, she moved to Seattle, WA where she worked at Boeing Aircraft on B29s as a riveter during WWll. Her many other jobs included working at the Eagles Cafe, Babes Resort, Perham Memorial Hospital and Homes, Perham Bakery, Perham Laundry, Swift & Co. in Frazee, Huebsch Turkey Farms, Heart of the Lakes School, and Perham Head Start.
Dolly enjoyed life. She liked travel, especially by Greyhound Bus so she could see the countryside. She enjoyed searching her ancestor's genealogy and scrapbooking, saving any article from the newspaper that had anything to do with family or friends. She was a lifetime member of the Perham Ladies Auxillary and was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In 1948, Dollena married Bernie Nundahl and they were blessed with seven children.
Preceding Dollena in death were her parents John Ziolkowski and Lena (Tober) Ziolkowski Boedigheimer; and her stepfather Joseph Boedigheimer.
Surviving Dollena are her sons Dan Nundahl (Janet) of Moorhead, MN, Mike Nundahl (Ginny) of Perham, MN, Jerry Nundahl of Perham and Tony Nundahl of Dent; her daughters Connie Nundahl Dean of Anderson, SC, Jane Nundahl Harris (Monte Dickerson) of Perham and Brenda Nundahl Nyberg (Dave) of Perham; her 16 grandchildren Craig, Kristina (Jamie), Jeff (Amanda), Nic (Brittany), John (Christie), Luke, Kalena (Daniel), Jerrica (Devian), Estevan, Beau, Brandi (Paul), Justin, Beth, Corey (Brianna), Katey (Matt) and April (Zachary); her 21 great-grandchildren; and her sisters Laverna Ziolkowski Holmer, of Park Rapids, MN and Helen Ziolkowski Concannon (Jim) of Livermore, CA.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
