Richard Mark Wherley, Age 60 of Burnsville, Minnesota passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019. Rick was the third of six children, born in Shakopee, Minnesota on September 25, 1958 to Jack and Myrtle Wherley.
Rick grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota and lived in New Market, Minnesota where he ran his own concrete & masonry business. Rick ran his business for nearly 40 years until his cancer diagnosis this past April. Most recently, Rick split his time between the Twin Cities and Richville, Minnesota where he spent time at his lake home. While at the cabin he enjoyed fishing with his brother John, clearing trees on his property and entertaining many family and friends.
Rick loved his family with every fiber of his being. He lived for his grand-daughters, Elsa and Faye and taught the girls how to catch fish, make pancakes and laugh with their entire bodies. He didn't miss a recital, play or concert when it came to his girls. He was their biggest fan. Rick loved celebrating the holidays with his brothers and sisters. He often cooked elaborate hunks of meat. He enjoyed telling stories and recounting memories that were punctuated with his loud and infectious laugh.
Rick was kind and generous. He considered anyone who shook his hand family. He would give you the shirt off his back if it meant you would be warm, he would give you his last slice of bread if it meant you were full. He was a caretaker and friend to many and he felt grateful for everyone he knew.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother Myrtle, father Jack and brother Randy. He is survived by his daughter Nicole and her husband Aaron, grand-daughters Elsa and Faye. Brothers John and Michael (Lauren), sisters Mary Jo, Vicki (Kenny) and Jessica. Niece Bailey, nephews Mathew (Kendra), Bradley and Noah. Great nieces and nephew; Carly, Quincy and Liliana.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 14th from 5-9pm at Dan Patch American Legion, Savage, MN.
