Agnes Schwanz

Agnes Christina (Siebels) Schwanz, age 96, of Frazee, MN, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away June 7, 2012, at Sanford Health of Fargo, ND.
Agnes was born June 28, 1915, on her parents' farm in Gorman Township, rural Perham. She was the second child of Edward and Kundie (Dietlein) Siebels. Agnes attended country school and, at age 15, worked at Mac's Café in Perham as a cook and, later, in Detroit Lakes at the Proctor Café as pastry cook.
On August 8, 1942, Agnes was married to Albert Schwanz of rural Frazee at Holy Rosary Church in Portland, OR, where Albert was working as a welder in the Oregon Shipyards. Agnes worked at the Portland Woolen Mills making material for the Army and Navy uniforms. In 1943, the couple moved back to Minnesota and settled on the Schwanz farm.
Agnes was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Holy Family Catholic United Council. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling by spending several summers in Alaska and winters in Virginia Beach, VA.
Surviving Agnes is her son, Kenneth, of Fairbanks, AK, and daughter, Marlene (Warren) Keefe, of Frazee, MN; grandsons, Joe (Jeni) Keefe, of Minneapolis, MN, and John (Kim) Keefe, of Becker, MN, and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding Agnes in death are her parents; her husband, Albert; four brothers, Alois, Eugene, Edward, and infant, James, and four sisters, Helen, Henrietta, Pauline and Leonida.
Memorials are preferred to St. Henry's Area School, Perham, MN, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Society.
