Albert Joseph Filibeck went to be with the Lord on Sept. 1, 2025 at UNM Hospital in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Albert was born on March 25, 1942 to Albert and Katherine Filibeck in Stephenson, MI.
He joined the Marines shortly after he graduated from Stephenson High School. Albert earned a Good Conduct Medal and was Honorably Discharged. He met his wife, Ardeen, while in the service. They got married on June 5, 1965 in Long Beach, CA. They lived there for 53 years and moved to Albuquerque, NM in July of 2018. They have one child, Michael.
After serving, he went to Long Beach City College with an Associate Science Degree. He worked as a Tool & Die Repairman for American Can Co. for 31 years and retired in 1995. He also worked for US Can Co. for a few years.
Albert “Shorty” enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hiking, camping with the Boy Scouts, fishing in Alaska with his relatives and friends, traveling, barbecuing, wood crafting and walking two miles almost every day. He hiked through John Muir Trail in Southern CA in August of 1989 and it took 30 days.
He was a very faithful and active member at First Lutheran Church, Long Beach, CA. He was a trustee, usher, counted Sunday offerings, Janitor and helped with yard work. He was always willing to help anybody.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ardeen; son, Michael; two special grandchildren, Michael Zachary, and Vyra of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Donald (Sharon) Filibeck of Dublin, OH and Rick (John) Filibeck of Rogers, MN; Alejandra Vargas of Albuquerque, NM many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Katherine Filibeck; and brother, Charles Filibeck.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their loved ones, friends & neighbors for their prayers, support & kindness during this time.
A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Gorman Lutheran Cemetery rural Perham, MN. A luncheon will be held at Schoeneberger Funeral and Cremation Service in Perham, following the service. All are welcome.
