Alyce Leona (Long) Trapp, 89, was a resident of Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN, when she passed away on November 26, 2008. She was born October 21, 1919 in Bristol, VA, the daughter of Alonzo and Nora (Moore) Long. Alyce grew up in Kansas and attended nursing school in Dodge City where she met and married Charles E. Trapp, Sr. on September 19, 1943.
Alyce worked as a registered nurse in Maryland, then in Breckenridge, MN, while her husband attended State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. In 1947, Alyce's family moved to Springfield, IL, for a year, and then moved to Moorhead, MN, where she worked at St. Ansgar Hospital. Her family moved to a new home in Fargo in 1952. She taught First Aid at NDSU for a short time. In 1965, the family moved to Minneapolis. In 1977, she and her husband moved to the family lake home near Dent.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles in 1998 and her four siblings, Lula, Roy, Bud, and Everett. Alyce is survived by four children, Melanie (Marlin) Mathiason of Thief River Falls, MN; Mary Trapp of Owatonna, MN; Charles Trapp, Jr., of Fargo, ND, and Margaret (Jon) Ewy of Deer Creek, MN; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
