Ambrose H. Moenkedick, age 76, of Perham, MN, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, unexpectedly, at his home.
Ambrose Herman Moenkedick was born August 15, 1935, in Perham, the son of Herman and Mary (Guck) Moenkedick. Ambrose grew up in rural Edna Township along with his brother and sister. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Henry's Catholic Church. Ambrose attended country school, District #132, and graduated from Perham High School in 1953. He then attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1957. On June 28, 1958, Ambrose was united in marriage with LaVerne Sazama and together they had four children; Sandy, Cheryl, David and Tim. Ambrose and LaVerne made their homes in Minnesota, Iowa and Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1975, they moved back to Perham, and one year later, opened Westside Services, in Perham. In 1989, Ambrose added the CarQuest Auto Parts Store to the Westside complex. He and LaVerne enjoyed many winters in Las Vegas and spent summers helping at the family businesses and farm as well as watching their grandkids participate in various activities. In 2007, Ambrose lost his beloved LaVerne after a long battle with cancer.
Surviving Ambrose are his four children, Sandy (Jeff) Burns, Cheryl (Darren) Wiskow, David (Cindy) Moenkedick and Tim (Rhonda) Moenkedick; seven grandchildren, JD and Jillian Burns, Danny, Mike and Rachel Wiskow, Deanna Moenkedick and Allison Moenkedick; six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ambrose in death is his wife LaVerne; his parents; brother, Henry Moenkedick; sister, Hildegard Fink Winters and his mother and father-in-law, Joe and Monica Sazama.
