Ardis M. Nelson, age 90 of Perham, MN died on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Harmony Home in Motley, MN. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. A graveside service and burial will take place on Tuesday, April 1 beginning at 1:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak, IA.
Ardis Muriel Baumgartner was born in Todd County to Arthur and Ella (Horman) Baumgartner on September 25, 1923. Ardis graduated from Wadena High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Donald T. Nelson on June 4, 1942 in Wadena, MN. Ardis and Donald lived in Long Beach, CA for many years where Ardis worked at Continual Bakery. She was able to do lots of traveling and lived in various places throughout her life before settling in Charter Oak, IA. Ardis was active in church. She loved to visit and go fishing and was a member of the Red Hats, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Ardis are her sisters, Donna Ziegler and Elaine (Norman) Haedtke; sister-in-law, Melva Baumgartner; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ardis in death are her parents; her husband Donald in 2000; her sisters, Velma Herman and Joyce Kautzman; and her brother, Merton Baumgartner.
Memorials preferred to Lakeland Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
