Arlene Delores Werner, 80, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Frazee Care Center, Frazee, MN.
Arlene was born on August 11, 1931, in Gorman Township, rural Perham, the daughter of Frank and Veronica (Stodolka) Steinbach. She attended country school in Pine Lake Township, rural Perham, and, in 1949, graduated from Perham High School. Arlene worked at Ebeling's Café, in Perham, right out of high school. On June 23, 1953, she married Albert Anton Werner at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham. The couple lived in Richfield, MN, and then moved to Brooklyn Center, MN. In 1963, Arlene and Al returned to the area and farmed 10 miles east of Perham. In 1975, they moved to the east shore of Big Pine Lake, rural Perham. Arlene worked full-time at Barrel O' Fun Snack Foods, in Perham, for 19 years, until 1995, when she retired. After Al's death, Arlene moved into Perham and worked part-time at Nelson Confections. Arlene was active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, bowling, fishing, deer hunting, playing cards and tending her flower garden and yard, which she took great pride in. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Arlene are her children, Diane (Paul) Klinnert, of New York Mills, MN, Donald (Janice) Werner, of Lisbon, ND, Richard (Pam) Werner, of Perham, MN, Deb Werner, of Perham, MN, and Terry (Tony) Peeters, of Menagha, MN; siblings, Janice (John) Wientjes, of Perham, MN, Delores Minten, of Perham, MN; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding Arlene in death is her husband, Al Werner; her parents; siblings, Walter, Henry, Clarence, Raymond, Mary and Martha and one grandchild, Travis Werner.
