Arnold Lydeen

Arnold William Lydeen, age 96, of Frazee, MN, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Frazee Care Center.


Arnold “Arnie” was born April 23, 1912 , in Fergus Falls , MN , the son of August and Ida Lydeen. He grew up in Pettibone , ND , but returned to Fergus Falls where he graduated from Park Region College . He was the oldest of five brothers; Ronald and Lloyd Lydeen, Fergus Falls, MN; and Harvey and Arvid Lydeen , Washington state.



He was united in marriage to Thelma M. Kastet of Rothsay , MN , at Del Rapids, SD, in November 1935. She preceded him in death in 1997. Arnie was a grocer in Fargo and Wahpeton, ND, and Breckenridge , MN , for over 39 years. He was active in Rotary clubs, school boards, and his churches in many and various positions over the years. He and Thelma retired and moved to Little McDonald Lake in 1973 where they lived for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening; continuing to do so until he was 89 years old.



Arnie was a delight to be around and will be greatly missed.



Arnold is survived by three sons, DuWayne (Carol), Lydeen, Allyn, WA; LeRoy (Carolyn) Lydeen, Bradley, CA; and Dennis (Kathi) Lydeen Coeur d’ Alene, ID; five grandchildren, Lori Tharp and Troy Lydeen, WA State; Edward Lydeen, CA; Damon Lydeen, NC; and Sandra Oglesby, FL; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews as well as countless friends and neighbors in the community.



Preceding Arnold in death are his parents; wife, Thelma; two grandchildren, Robert and Brian Lydeen; and four brothers.
