Bernice LaFond

On October 25th, 2013 the angels came to take Bernice LaFond to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A funeral service for Bernice will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Schoeneberger Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Bernice was born to Albert and Ruth (Ogroske) Derke on May 24, 1939 in Perham, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, of rural Perham. She attended a country school house and later graduated from Perham High School. Bernice worked for a short time in Fergus Falls, Minnesota before moving to Minneapolis, where she met and married Paul LaFond. In 1970 they moved back to Perham where they lived the rest of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, feeding and watching birds, camping and the occasional stop at the casino.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Aloysius, William and Arnold.

Surviving Bernice is her loving husband, Paul; son, Mike (Pam) LaFond; and grandchildren Brett and Chloe LaFond.
