Betty Seiple

Betty J. Seiple, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Betty Jean Hunter was born to Frank and Hazel (Malcolm) Hunter on April 19, 1937 in Dead Lake Township, MN. As a family they moved back and forth between North Dakota and Minnesota several times. She attended elementary school at a country school in Dead Lake Township and attended Perham High School.

She married Vernon Seiple on Sept 19, 1957 in Webster, SD. While raising her children, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and reading. As the children got older, she started a career as dietary manager at Ottertail Nursing Home for 21 years.

Her greatest joy was family. She was known as Smoochy Grandma, rubby nose grandma, and enjoyed the company of many grand-dogs.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Seiple; brother, Sonny Hunter; sister, Deloris Brown (Carly); sister, Barbara Honer (Bud); brother-in-law, Tom Adams, and son-in-law Curt Rode.

She is survived by her five children, Deb Lund, Randy Seiple (Corinne), Vicki Rode, Penney Oaks (Hunter), and Terry Seiple (Lisa) and their families; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Burial will be at Richville Village Cemetery.
