Beverly Adeline (Abbott) Modine, age 73, of Dent, Minnesota passed to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 beginning at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dent, with Pastor Dan Abrahams officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Schoeneberger Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. Burial will take place in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Dora Township.
Beverly was born in Carver County, Minnesota, the daughter of Orton and Adeline (Harthun) Abbott. After the family moved to Oregon, they returned to Minnesota and settled in Star Lake Township. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dora. She attended country school at District 144 and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. In 1963, Beverly married Carl Modine at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Dora. Bev and Carl lived in Minneapolis several years before moving to North Branch to raise their family. In 1996, they moved to Dent. They celebrated 50 years together on March 23, 2013.
Beverly always enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends, embroidery, puzzle books (by the case), cribbage, and baking everyone's favorites such as chocolate cake, rhubarb dessert, caramel rolls, potato salad and fresh buns. She loved going to Texas for the winter months with her many friends and family.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Carl of Dent; their two sons, Craig Modine and Kevin (Krystal) Modine; their daughter, Stacy (Jim) Frahs; their grandchildren, Cole, Allison, Will, Abby and Luke, all of Sunrise, Minnesota; two sisters, Marlene (Morris) Martinson and Bernice (Ed) Genoch both of Dent; a brother, Gary (Linda) Abbott of Roy, Montana; sister-in-law, Rita Abbott of Dent; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Curtis Abbott.
