Bruce Arthur Halverson Jr., 63 Richville MN, died Thursday, January 30, 2025 in his home.
He was born the only son to Bruce Sr. and Velda (Ball) in Duluth on May 12th 1961. He married Jennifer K. Humphries on June 21st, 1986 in Honolulu, HI.
Bruce enlisted in the US Navy in August of 1979 continuing a long family tradition of service with the Navy, as the third generation to do so. He proudly served his country in a variety of roles including, but not limited to, Aviation Ordnance, Helicopter Anti-submarine Warfare, Helicopter Combat, plus Search and Rescue.
In June of 1999, after over 20 years of dedicated active service, Bruce transitioned to reservist status for another 10 years.
After ending active duty, Bruce moved back to MN to be closer to family and re-engaged as a 3rd degree Master Mason with Wayzata Lodge 205, holding the position of Worshipful Master for 2006.
Bruce continued a lifetime of service in his own way until the end—his generosity often reached those most would have overlooked. He saw value where others saw only trouble, and he gave anyway.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Sr. and Velda Halverson, and his sister Kelly Gretton. He survived by his sister, Lora Henry of CA; two daughters, Jessica (Mike) Cook of MN, and Melissa (Isaiah) Leckie of CO; and his grandchildren, Edward, Henry, Lilly, and Luke.
A short service will be held at Fort Snelling on June 26th at 1:30 p.m., followed by a gathering of friends and family at Minnehaha Park, Pavilion Wabun A.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to K9s for Warriors in honor of Bruce and his beloved dog, Stormy.
