Carol Yanke

Carol Ann Yanke, 81 of Frazee, MN passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the Frazee Care Center.

Carol was the first born to Kenneth and Mary Ann (Palmer) Yanke on July 19, 1942 in Michigan City, IN. Her family included three brothers: Edward, Douglas, and Byron and two sisters: Frances and Anna Marie.

Carol worked at the Michigan City Department of Water Works in billing and payroll. She joined the United Steel Workers of America and worked as a recording secretary and photographer. In 1989, she attended Purdue University North Central and majored in computer and business obtaining her diploma in 1993. While attending Purdue University, Carol met her life partner of 27 years, Jim, who passed away June 12, 2017.

In the fall of 1993, after talking with her mother in Vergas, MN, Carol decided that her mom needed help, so Carol sold her apartment house and she and Jim moved to Vergas.

Carol joined the Detroit Lakes Fraternal Order of Eagles 2342 Auxiliary. Carol accepted work with the Eagles Aerie 2342 up in the office as a bingo cashier. She retired in 2018.

Carol also worked for West Central One Stop in Vergas as a bookkeeper.

Carol’s favorite thing to do was enjoy beautiful Long Lake in Vergas and she also enjoyed attending bingo with her friends.
