Cathy Oanes Jaeger, 66, of rural Vergas, MN, passed away at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls, MN, under the care of Lakeland Hospice on Saturday, February 23, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 beginning at 1:00 PM at Schoeneberger Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Lee officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 – 1:00 on Saturday. Burial will be held at the East Marsh River Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
Cathy was born on April 11, 1946, the daughter of Kenneth and Inga Carlson and grew up on the farm in Anthony Township of rural Halstad, MN. She graduated from Halstad High School in 1964.
On June 12, 1966, she was united in marriage to Dale Oanes at East Marsh River Lutheran Church of rural Halstad, MN. Dale and Cathy welcomed Beth and Angie as their children to complete this union. In 1967 they moved to Moorhead, MN and also lived in Sioux Falls, SD. They moved back to Moorhead in 1978 and remained there until Dale's death in 1991.
On February 20, 1996, she married Jim Jaeger at their home on Silent Lake. Living at the lake fit with her love of the outdoors and she and Jim had many gatherings with family and friends. Jim passed away in April of 1996 and she continued living at the lake until 2001.
In 1998 she began a loving relationship with her companion and friend, Jerry Collins. They shared many fun and wonderful years together and made many great memories. He was supportive and caring all throughout her illness and remained by her side when she passed.
Cathy began her career in photo finishing at Western Film Service in Fargo, ND in the late 1960's. She also worked at Harold's Film Service in Sioux Falls, SD, at Qualex Incorporated in Fargo, ND and finally at Photo Magic in Perham, MN.
Aside from loving her role as mom, step-mom, grandma, companion and friend; birds, flowers, gardening, fishing, photographs, the lake, riding around in her paddle boat, girls weekend, laughing, fun, shrimp and green olive pizza, riding in Jerry's tractor, living life and just being outside, that was Cathy.
She is survived by her companion and friend, Jerry Collins, rural Vergas, MN; her daughters Lisabeth (Jeff) Pladson, Pelican Rapids, MN; Angela Sayler (Brian Krist), Cushing, MN; her step-sons Eric (Theresa) Jaeger, Moorhead, MN; Jason (Sandra) Jaeger, Fargo, ND; her grandchildren James, Michael, Elizabeth and Andrew Jaeger, Moorhead, MN; Jack and Joey Jaeger, Fargo, ND; her brother John (Barb) Carlson, Oklahoma City, OK; her many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her husband Jim and parents Kenneth and Inga Carlson.
Memorials preferred to Lakeland Hospice.
