David Wilson Powell, the much-loved son of Mary Powell and brother of Frank Powell, passed away on June 17, 2025, at Perham Health.
Born in the Perham Hospital on October 2, 1990, David was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham. He attended school in the Perham school district and received a GED from the Wadena Technical College campus.
Always a lover of nature, David collected rocks and other pieces of the world as he spent time in the great outdoors. As a child he enjoyed playing basketball with friends at the Perham Area Community Center.
Some of David's loves were the family dog Kiwi, a down-home meal that included potatoes, Mexican food and the Native American culture. David also loved music. He taught himself to play a keyboard and enjoyed singing and writing songs. David once left a note to his mother telling her that one of his favorite things to do in the spring was to "watch people walk by the flowers outside and sniff them."
David is survived by his mother, Mary Powell, and his brother, Frank Powell, who live in Perham, and his nephew Boone, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. David's father Steven Powell preceded him in death as did his grandparents.
A service will be held in the honor of David's life for family and close friends on Thursday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to attend, please contact David's family or Schoeneberger Funeral Home for more information. Cards may be sent to the Schoeneberger Funeral Home to be forwarded to the family.
David's family would like to thank anyone who helped David or did something kind to him as he made his way through life.
